A 900 Year Old Hagadah on Display

This week in Jerusalem, a 12th century Hagadah is going on display, at the National Library. This outstanding document was preserved in Egypt! and is part of the famous Cairo Collection. The page shown here is exactly the current version used today during the Pesach Seder.


The following is handwritten on the photo shown above:
...מרורים אילו שאנו אוכלין על שום מה על שום שמררו המצרים את חיי אבותינו במצרים...
The verse talks about the meaning of eating Bitter during the Seder: in memory of the bitter life Israel's forefathers had in slavery in Egypt...

All was kept dry and safe in the Cairo Synagouge "Ben Ezra", shown here:
